Founded in 1925 and a leader in the production of Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys and Titanium Long products, Valbruna is a private company with 2,500 employees and an annual output of approx. 250,000 tons of specialty steels. Production is primarily focused on Stainless Steels and Specialty Alloys, available in blooms and billets, ingots, round, square, flat, hexagonal and angle bars, wire rod, wire, reinforcement bars and threaded rods, with the expressed goal of satisfying the most sophisticated needs of the customer. To that end, Valbruna is constantly updating its production capabilities and experience.

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist will complete the daily functions of the Human Resources Department, including employee relations, staffing, training and enforcing company policies and practices.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts thorough and effective investigations.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions. Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Identifies and applies best practices to the sourcing and selection processes.
  • Ensures compliance with labor laws, union contract, and company policies, providing guidance to management and employees on HR related matters.
  • Maintains accurate employee records, including personnel files, time and attendance data, and performance evaluations using Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Facilitates training and development initiatives for employees and supervisors, identifying training needs and coordinating relevant programs. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Monitors employee morale and engagement levels, identifying potential concerns or trends, and recommends proactive measures to address them.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with business objectives and promote employee engagement.
  • Stays updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting HR and labor relations in the manufacturing sector, proactively recommends improvements and updates to HR policies and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Human Resources Information Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including Employee Relations; Training and Development; Talent Acquisition and Management; Human Resources Information Systems; and Federal and State Employment Laws.
  • Union experience is desired.
