Description

Founded in 1925 and a leader in the production of Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys and Titanium Long products, Valbruna is a private company with 2,500 employees and an annual output of approx. 250,000 tons of specialty steels. Production is primarily focused on Stainless Steels and Specialty Alloys, available in blooms and billets, ingots, round, square, flat, hexagonal and angle bars, wire rod, wire, reinforcement bars and threaded rods, with the expressed goal of satisfying the most sophisticated needs of the customer. To that end, Valbruna is constantly updating its production capabilities and experience.

Summary: Provides engineering support for all aspects of assigned product line to ensure functionality, quality, cost, and schedule by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce, eliminate or replace non-value added work with automation
  • Develop machine setup parameters and processes
  • Evaluate repeat offenders for downtime; maintenance and production
  • Determine control points to improve machine reliability
  • Process Audits/Product Verification Audits
  • Assist in developing and maintain the work order system
  • Perform and coordinate Time Studies
  • Evaluate vendors in terms of price and quality ie straight guides, drive shafts
  • Create SOI’s
  • Through the use of drawings and specifications, assist in or purchase spare parts and consumables
  • Evaluate reasons and possible sources of variation
  • Drive OEE improvements through machine improvements or machine maintenance practices
  • Assist w/ incoming inspection of spare parts that are SPC CTQ
  • Assist w/ routing maintenance
  • Drive projects to evaluate and improve performance through cost sheets
  • Analyze yield loss root causes and suggest improvement actions
  • Period analysis of routing to align with Best Practices

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or two to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PLC experience is desired.
